The UK Royal Mint has released a 20g Gold Bullion Minted Bar depicting the Kaaba ahead of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan to raise funds for the Syrian and Turkish earthquake victims.

The gold bullion bars (999.9 fine gold) were “designed by Emma Noble and created in consultation with the Muslim Council of Wales,” the Royal Mint said in a post on Facebook.

“All of the Royal Mint’s bullion has been endorsed as Sharia-compliant by Sharia advisory organization Amanie Advisors, in accordance with the Shari'ah Standard on Gold,” the Royal Mint added.

In February, the Royal Mint donated three bars to the Islamic Relief Organization to auction them off to raise funds for those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said in a statement.

The auctions added more than £9,000 to the donations raised for the relief fund, the statement added.

The Kaaba is one of the most sacred places for Muslims, who come from different areas around the globe to perform the annual Hajj (pilgrimage), which is obligatory once in life for those who are financially and physically able to perform it.
